The HEARTS FOR GOD© studies explore New and Old Testament Biblical stories that illustrate heart healthy attitudes and actions. Using a format similar to the Disciple Bible Study, these texts are supported with background materials, Psalms, hymns, prayers, thoughts for reflection and discussion, and space for notes and journal entries.
Each week includes selected notes and comments from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, who took the connection between health and spirituality very much to heart.
The “Heart Basics” section gives current research on heart health topics, as well as, approaches for making healthy lifestyle changes.
Three levels of exercise goals (Beginner, Intermediate, Seasoned) are listed with suggestions for safe and healthy approaches to starting an exercise program.
The study includes heart healthy recipes to prepare each week that will also provide opportunities for team work during the preparation and for table fellowship.
“...Readily observe both that kind and measure of food, which experience shows to be most friendly to health and strength...” John Wesley, Primitive Physic, London: Paramore, 1798.
